  1. yea….. it’s heavy -

I know it’s much harder for me to buy new clothes – or a ticket to an event – or….. when I’m thinking about others – that need help just to make it -they are friends who may live here in MN in MX or in???

but then if I really want it – I just push their face out of my mind.

  2. Jeremy,

Thanks for sharing that, it’s a powerful and challenging video. I’ve seen a few other things like this from Hillsong and I’ve impressed by the quality and intensity of the message.

I’ve got to ask though, maybe you know more about them and the programs then I do, but, well, I’m a little skeptical.
The last powerful video like that I saw from them was their “I heart revolution” video which was similar, but then I found it ended up promoting their new CD and DVD set. And definitely those mediums can challenge and spur people on to action, but I sort of just wonder if it’s just another appeal to sell the next CD? You know?
They mention the price of a bottle of “glorified tap water” but what about another glorified music CD?

Call me a cynic, maybe there is part of the story I don’t know about, but I’m just skeptical.

    Peace.

  3. Yes, I feel a little skeptical as well. I mean its great to make videos like this and to inform people of the poverty around the world- but I was waiting for the end of the video to give a concrete way in which one could make a difference. I made paintings after coming back from India contrasting those two worlds because I didn’t know what else to do. I’m still searching to find a way to be a part of a solution instead of part of the problem like they were talking about, but other than going to those places and doing hands on work, or maybe donating to trustworthy organizations, I’m not sure what else can be done.

  4. Thanks for the comments.

In the Scheller house, we’re always making small moves, but perhaps something more radical is needed to be a part of God’s solution.

    Ariah-
Honestly, I don’t know a thing about Hillsong. Just saw the video and thought it was compelling, though very white…

    Sally-
This video is apparently just a teaser for a full-length movie coming…maybe they wrap up some solutions. But I think there are solutions all around us. Inconvenient though they might be, but I think every one of us has concrete options right in front of us….
