No Country for Old Men

I saw No Country for Old Men last night. We actually went to see something much more light-hearted, but Juno was sold out.

This movie was gruesome, violent, intriguing, non-redemptive, horrible to watch, very well-made, and left me with that sick pit in the stomach feeling when I left the theater. It was such a complete story, and yet left you feeling so unresolved.

I can’t recommend it. I don’t hate it. But it made me think so much and feel so fatalistic that I can’t ever see it again.

Do you ever feel like time is running out?

Like this world is going to be gone in an instant?

Like technology is moving so fast that every part of our lives will soon be automated?

Like there really isn’t much hope for generations to come?

Like we shouldn’t even be bringing kids into this world?

Like we’re taking ourselves out?

Like we all need a whole lot of Jesus right now and can’t wait for tomorrow?

That’s what No Country for Old Men did to me.

Pleasant huh?
